VOTER REGISTRATION – NEW YORK STATE

FACTS:

#1: Be a United States Citizen
#2: Be 18 years old by December 31st of the year you are filing but you must be 18 years old when voting
#3: Live at your present address at least 30 days before an election
#4: Not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction
#5: Not  be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court
#6: Not claim the right to vote else where
#7: If you have been convicted of a felony, you lose the right to vote. This right is AUTOMATICALLY restored when you complete your maximum sentence or are discharged by the Board of Parole.

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

VOTING FOR FEDERAL PRIMARY ELECTIONS

June 19: Last day to postmark application for primary ballot.
September 11: Last day to apply IN-PERSON for primary ballot.
September 11: Last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by the local board of elections no later than July 3rd.
September 12: Last day to deliver primary ballot in person to county board, by close of polls (by someone other than the voter).

VOTING FOR  LOCAL PRIMARY ELECTIONS

September 4: Last day to postmark application for primary ballot.
September 10: Last day to apply IN-PERSON for primary ballot.
September 10: Last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by the county board no later than Sept. 18th.
September 11: Last day to deliver primary ballot in person to county board, by close of polls (by someone other than the voter).

MILITARY VOTING FOR PRIMARY ELECTIONS

August 11: Date to mail ballot to Military Voter.
August 18: Last day for a board of elections to receive application for Military ballot for primary if not previously registered.
September 5: Last day for a board of elections to receive Military application for primary if previously registered.
September 11: Last day to apply personally for Military ballot for primary if previously registered.
September 11: Last day to postmark Military ballot for primary and date it must be received by the board of elections is September 19th.

ABSENTEE VOTING FOR GENERAL ELECTION

October 30: Last day to postmark application or letter of application for general election ballot.
November 5: Last day to apply in person for general election ballot.
November 5: Last day to postmark general election ballot. Must be received by the county board no later than Nov. 19th.
November 6: Last day to deliver general election ballot in person to county board, by close of polls on election day.

MILITARY VOTING FOR GENERAL ELECTION

October 6: Date to mail ballot to Military voter.
October 28: Last day for a board of elections to receive application for a Military absentee ballot if not previously registered.
October 31: Last day for a board of elections to receive Military absentee application, if by mail and previously registered.
November 6: Last day to apply personally for a Military General Election ballot if previously registered.
November 6: Last day to postmark Military ballot and date it must be received by the board of elections is Nov. 20th.
